7 ways to improve SaaS user experience by using personal videos

Some think B2B marketing should look more like B2C – friendlier, less corporate, more creative, and emotional.

I agree. I mean, seeing this all day is kind of boring:

I truly admire those B2B brands that manage to become fun and seem like B2C. Some good examples are Asana with its colorful and fun brand.

Or monday, a leading project management software:

Or the funny above the fold section of the homepage of Wave.

Also, Clickfunnels. I mean, they’re a landing pages and email automation software, but they’re positioning as the sales funnel tool for non-tech entrepreneurs—and they did brilliantly with their video ad:

And finally, Slack’s ad:

In this article, we will show you 5 ways to have a personal, nice touch with your SaaS company that doesn’t need a website re-design or an expensive ad, but personal videos—all with Bonjoro.

Bonjoro lets you send personalized emails; just download an app, record yourself talking, and send it to your contacts.

Let say you want to try a differente users approach in the sales proposal stage. Bonjoro can give you that kick-out to set a more engaging way to contact them, different from a automated email.

We will review some use cases that may be ideal for your SaaS companies

Send proposals follow-ups

Sending a recording doesn’t seem like a big deal, but combining it with automation converts them into better conversion rates.

Bonjoro lets your trigger automation. So, for instance, you can trigger a personal video (aka a Bonjoro) 2 days after sending a sales proposal that hasn’t been opened.

Send personal videos to your highest qualified leads

Bonjoro takes personalization to a next level when you can integrate with your CRM and other tools.

By using tools like Hubspot you can monitor users behavior and give them a score (aka lead scoring).

Then, you might consider sending a Bonjoro to your most qualified leads and users. Instead of sending dozens of videos to many people, send highly personal videos to those whose behavior indicates that they like you. It could be the perfect moment to make those who like you, love you.

And this is the case for Corey, from Baremetrics. He explains how he uses Bonjoro to talk to their most loyal users, by sending them a personal video with a greeting, a tip, a use case, and an invitation to upgrade.

Reduce churn rates

Your efforts to reduce churn rate are as important as your efforts to grow.

If you have a 5% of churn rate and 5% of growth, net growth is actually 0%.

Retently talks about the three core reasons why users churn:

How can you overcome them with Bonjoro?

Convertkit explains it with great detail in this article.

The problem ConvertKit was trying to solve was sending more personalized onboarding emails to new customers.

It turned out that their welcome emails were ok, but as they were not personal, users would reply back and would create more customer support tickets and confusion.

What they started doing is researching each new user to know what tools they used and where they came from to send such personal emails.

Then, they identified clusters; they could notice some were WordPress users and others Mailchimp users.

To save time figuring out what tools new customers used, they used BuiltWith, to automatically know it from crawling sites scripts.

Then this:

They started to send about 50 to 70 personalized Bonjoros to their new users—and responses were great.

Pro tip: some users didn’t know they were sent actual personalized videos, so say their name as soon as you can.

Apply for a SaaS job

If you go to sites like AngelList or Torre to find jobs with startups and tech companies, you will notice that most awesome offers have dozens if not hundreds of applicants.

How to stand out?

Don’t make your CV three pages long, but four!

Just kidding. Do exactly the opposite.

CVs is what everyone does.

What I would do instead to stand out would be checking a company’s website and audit their digital marketing. I expect to see at least one thing they’re missing (after all, I would apply to help them improve).

Then, I’d attach a Bonjoro introducing myself, mentioning the problem and the solution I’d give.

Build links by building relations

As a blogger or digital marketer, each week I get a link request from some company or website.

The initial perception I get most of the times is that these emails are automated or the link they would generate would be spammy.

So, if I were the person who outreached blogs to request a link, I’d try Bonjoro to make sure site owners I’m an actual human and being personal would demonstrate that I don’t like spam, either.

Sales or work presentations

I love building dashboards. But no matter how simple I make them, people will find hard to understand the data they’re visualizing because they don’t have a context.

Also, if you use dashboards tools like Tableau or Power Bi, most users won’t know the features like filters they offer.

So I’d attach links to Bonjoros to show clients how to interpret the data and the filters they can apply.

This will help me make sure people take the most out of the dashboard I build for them.

It’s the same with sales presentation or your work in general.

Most businesses only send a PDF and bet people will go through them. And that’s not how our attention works.

This is a great example from Freshsales using Bonjoro for their sales proposals, for instance:

Faster customer support

I use tools like Intercom, Hubspot, and Mailerlite.

Mailerlite, for instance, offers 24/7 support and it’s great and fast. It works through online chat.

Intercom and Hubspot, on the other hand, may take about 24 hours.

These tools are all-in-one making possible use cases endless; they’ve got many features that, as far as I think, they’re limited.

When I used these tools intensively, I could send at least a support ticket each week.

It is disappointing when you wait 24 hours to get a reply with a new question. Or worse, with a response that is not helpful or you don’t understand.

I bet that if they used things like Bonjoro they would quickly show me a walkthrough with a video to help me better understand the tool.

On the other hand, I would encourage users of my product to ask their questions with a video and screen recording. so we make sure communication is clear–and fast.
